Joe McCarthy: Back from Hell?

Legions of liberals have spewed plenty of ink castigating the Bush-ferrets at the FOX network for their biased coverage of the news and their simpering toadyism as regards our two-term tyrant. Apparently their "right blight" infection is contagious.

Both NBC and CBS have refused to air an ad from the United Church of Christ because its message is "too controversial."

Controversial? The United Church? What gives?

Here friends is what gives: The United Church of Christ has an ad that shows two brawny bouncer type guys in front of a church manning a velvet rope/gate and allowing only certain people past.

"Not you," says the muscle dude when a male couple tries to enter.

"Where are you going?" says the other when two lesbians try to crash the gate.

The ad ends by stating that the United Church of Christ: "No matter who you are, or where you are on life's journey you are welcome here."

Pretty racy, don't you think? Not fit for the kiddies.

You could cut the hypocrisy with a knife. These are the stations that bring you "The Biggest Loser" where obese men and women vie for prizes by stripping down to spandex and performing exercise rituals all the while blurting out the "S" word and the "F" bomb so frequently that you would wonder how they could eat so much with such dirty mouths.

The obscenities are bleeped but you don't have to be a lip reader to know exactly what they are saying. Both networks have lots of prime-time blood and gore and perversity on CSI Miami and Law and Order but that seems to be just dandy.

The response to the church from CBS says: "Because this commercial touches on the exclusion of gay couples and other minority groups by other individuals and organizations and the fact that the Executive Branch has recently proposed a Constitutional Amendment to define marriage as a between a man and a women, this spot is unacceptable for broadcast on the CBS and UPN networks."

Similarly NBC rejected the ad as being "too controversial." How astounding that NBC and CBS would shrink in terror from the White House to such an extent that it would deny a church the chance to say that they will open their doors to all citizens. I'll bet even the dinks who are against having gay teachers or allowing any gay content in the schools would not deny homosexuals the chance to find out about a church that accepts them.

Even FOX is airing the ad for goodness sake. What is going on with NBC and CBS?

Of course, this goes far beyond an ad for a church. If these two major networks will crawl on their bellies before the power of the Bushists on this issue, where will it end?

Bush has been replacing cabinet members by the dozen in order to be surrounded by homogeneous drones. He has reshuffled the CIA so they will only tell him what he wants to hear, regardless of the consequences.

Now, with FOX's nose in his codpiece, he wants the all rest of mediaville too. How much are you going to believe the next time one of these networks gives you news about the war?

It's refreshing to see a church that will cherry pick parts of the Bible that are welcoming and inclusive for a change. The United Church of Christ sounds like an organization that doesn't dive into Leviticus and come out with verses that demand death to those that don't perform up to their specifications.

CBS and NBC are censoring free speech for the most despicable of reasons -- to curry favor with zealots. Did Joe McCarthy rise out of hell while we weren't looking?
