An ill wind bloweth

Got this tree story to share with you folks.

John Stone from Rigaud, Quebec, suddenly found himself with neighbors whose nice, new house at the Hudson Club was built a little too close for comfort.

So, for just $4000 he had a pair of Norway spruces planted. They were 35 foot beauties and he had them dug in deep and braced with steel cable. They weren't going anywhere, thought John.

"There was much interest by the neighbours in this mammoth operation," John says. "Very heavy equipment was needed to transplant the five
tonne trees."

John says that the same neighbors were back Monday, having another look.

"Last night the heavy winds blew down both trees, despite the steel guy wires…the trees are lying on their sides…it's rather similar to viewing a roadside accident."

But John and his family are never-say-die folks:

"After the trees have been sawn into logs and carried away we'll try again, this time with slightly smaller trees."

John, tell your neighbors that I have some downed trees they can come and view.

I found one today that the beavers haven't quite chewed through -- it's about 30 inches across, nearly 60 feet tall, and is going to make one hell of thump when it comes down.
