RobertRobert Chadwick began teaching the history and culture of the ancient Near East at John Abbott College in 1972. He has also taught at Concordia University and currently teaches at Bishop's University and the Université de Sherbrooke.

After participating in excavations in England, the Southwestern United States and Syria, he began excavating in Jordan with Professor Michèle Daviau of Wilfrid Laurier University, first at Tall Jawa in 1994, and beginning in 1997, at Khirbet al-Mudayna, on the Wadi Ath-Thamad. Since 1998 he has been field supervisor and assistant director of the Wadi Ath-Thamad Project.

Robert with JordaniansIn 1980 he founded the Montreal-based Society for Near Eastern Studies, and since 1990 has been on the board of directors of the Society for the Study of Egyptian Antiquities in Toronto. He was a founding member and Montreal representative of the Canadian Society for Mesopotamian Studies. He is vice-president and co-founder of La Société pour l'Étude de l'Égypte Ancienne, the Montreal chapter of the SSEA.

Join us for visits to Petra, Amman, Umm al-Jamal, Umm Quais, Tell Jawa, the Jordan Valley, Wadi Rum, the Dead Sea, and Wadi ath-Thamad among other cultural and archaeological sites dating from 10,000 BC to the present.
