Log Cabin Chronicles

Paul began sugaring with his dad and family when they moved to a farm in Irasburg, Vermont, in 1925. His first chore was to collect sap from the buckets and bring it to the large wooden tub on a sled dragged behind a team of horses.

He was just a little guy and his gathering bucket didn't hold much sap, so over the course of a day he had to make many trips to the big tub. Sometimes he had to make several round trips from the same tree.
