Health care? Do something!

At breakfast on Tuesday I read a really good article in last Sunday's NYT Magazine on rationing health care. The author's point was everything is rationed: Porsches are, T-bone steaks are, and health care in the U.S. is.

Data points out that if two people are in a car accident and go to the emergency room, the one with insurance is least likely to die.

My message to Congress: do something!

Coming to work, GOP Rep. Eric Cantor of Virginia was on CSPAN radio talking about health care and how President Obama did not say much yesterday in his press conference on health care. He went on about how Americans will not give up their sacred right to choose their own doctor, etc.

When a caller said that all the Congressmen were selfish, on the take, and not doing anything for the people; Rep. Cantor said that he understood the caller's frustration and that Washington could not get anything done and certainly could not run health care. And the Democrats have run up the biggest deficit ever.

Rep. Cantor was elected to Congress in 2000 -- I did not hear any taking of responsibility on his part or any willingness to try to solve any problems.

Infant mortality in the U.S. is 6.3 per 1000 births; we rank thirty-third behind most European countries, Cuba, and Cyprus.

My message to Congress: Do something! And if that doesn't work, do something else.
