John Sununu disses Colin Powell
GOPer John Sununu, well known for talking when he should be listening, has said that Colin Powell expressed his support for President Obama because he is black. We should not be surprised. But what it really tells us is the John Sununu and many other of similar ilk, are supporting Mitt Romney because he is white.
We all, as a matter of course, look askance at the people of the Middle East for their hatreds: Sunni vs. Shia, Allawite vs. Sunni, Arabs vs. Persians, and everyone vs. Jews. You have to ask yourself; Are we really any different
You say: "But, we are not killing each other over these issues and that is the difference." I want to remind you that it has not been that long since the murders of Martin Luther King, James Chaney, Medgar Evers, and the four little girls of the Birmingham church bombing.
The latest Washington Post-ABC national tracking poll shows Republican Mitt Romney at 60 percent among whites vs President Obama at 37 percent. There are many factors that enter into these numbers and John Sununu clearly demonstrates that race is one of them.
John Sununu is already back pedaling and in the coming days I am sure he will proclaim his lack of racial bias. However, in today's technological public arena the words are forever. |
