Just Outside Washington

FRANK BERNHEISEL

From what I read in the news, the website on which people are supposed to sign up for Obamacare does not work. Everyone in Washington is in a dither. The Republicans want an investigation into why Obamacare cannot be rolled out on time and they want to find out who is responsible. Are they proposing to give those they identify a House of Representatives medal?

Meanwhile, members of the Administration are desperately trying to get the website working. The have brought in a team of high-tech experts from within the government and from Silicon Valley to tackle the issues, with Jeff Zients, acting director of the Office of Management and Budget, leading the team. Obviously, the wrong approach.

Want this website and computer system fixed, pronto? Call in the NSA -- they have the muscle. Want personal data? They already have it. Currently out of the country? Not a problem. Past history data in a secure corporate file? They have the key. Funding? NSA is off the budget.

And that little problem of those twenty-seven Republican governors who opted out of setting up state exchanges, which caused the overload of the federal website? Visits by a small elite team from the CIA black ops division should change their minds. Oh, and by the way, you will sign up for health care!

Ya just gotta know how Washington really works.
