JOHN MAHONEY

Don't do as I say, eh?

COBDEN, ONTARIO | [EDITOR'S NOTE] Let me be clear: I do not urge you to do as I have done and continue to do: Lose weight, and stabilize it for height, frame, and age; Lower blood pressure and maintain a "normal" range; exercise regularly; meditate or practice any "mindfulness" techniques.

I find the software at myfitnesspal.com an essential tool. Ditto for my blood pressure cuff, finger-pricking glucose monitoring rig, and digital body-weigher. Perhaps this is not for you.

There is no finger-pointing intended here. If you weigh too much; eat "wrong" and drink too much, too often -- and enjoy doing it; are sedentary and stressed; and are popping pills for various lifestyle ailments, that's your business.

Personally, I do not care. Been there, done that, am through with it.

However, if these brief reports of my journey to what I feel to be a return to a semblance of daily, drug-free wellness are of any help and/or interest to you, read on...

NEXT: Always ready for lunch
