Suffer, the little children

When the economy goes down the toilet, who suffers most?

The little people.

In 2007, before things got really crazy, some 18 percent of American children lived in poverty.

Fears are that next year, the rate will climb to more than 27 percent.

How about black children? How are things for them?

Well, in 2007, some 34.5 percent lived in poverty.

Fears are, if unemployment continues to increase until next year, at least 50 percent of all black children will live in poverty.

Half of our children born black will be poor.

Poor diets. Poor health care. Poor shelter. Poor clothing. Poor education. Poor prospects.

We spend billions on underarm deodorants, booze, fast foods, junk goods, CEO bonuses, landmines and killer missiles.

WTF are we thinking?
