Yona Alon

This day
brought one last grace of sunshine
but deciduous leaves fall
in muted silence
and distant ravens
recall
the end.

Yona Alon was born in Kibbutz Ein-Shemer in 1935, and lives now in Jerusalem. He has published several books of philosophy and poetry, among them A Year's Diary from which this poem was excerpted
