Log Cabin Chronicles

Friends

ADRIENNE C. FISHER

They play games with us not asking for consent
Unreachable: kings of their domicile
Impervious to voices of dissent.

That Age is friends with Time is evident
Hand in hand they go, changing all the while
They play games with us not asking for consent.

Age alters rules regardless of precedent
Its willful reign is hard to reconcile
Impervious to voices of dissent.

Time speeds or slows, depends on the event
Age, shifts and shuffles, teasing us to trial
They play games with us not asking for consent.

Age steals words from minds, courts embarrassment
Age, Time, gray, lines: antidote to denial
Impervious to voices of dissent.

What you thought you knew was not what was meant
Supreme in their roles, they govern life style
They play games with us not asking for consent
Impervious to voices of dissent.
