Log Cabin Chronicles

A Universal Lack of Grace

The world is too dangerous for lovers
of knowledge, too threatening for those
who only aspire to learn more
about the human spirit.

The most rational work a person can
perform is to pray for the improvement
of the human race; for even though
it appears we are forsaken,

I believe it is not so. Our current
problems are only a reflection
of the universal lack of grace,
an overwhelming commitment

to sin and wantonness. It follows,
as a simple turn of logic, that the
creation of grace is all that is needed
to improve the peoples of Earth . . .

so I must shelter myself here,
under the guidance of my abbot,
in the safety of my tiny world,
and pray for your improvement.
